St. Maarten & St. Martin Island Information

St. Maarten & St. Martin is a highly versatile island on a tiny patch in the Atlantic Ocean – just 34 square miles. Amazingly, there are two countries on the island, Sint Maarten, a part of the Dutch Kingdom, and Saint Martin, a French community. Nowhere else, two different countries are co-owning such a small piece of land for now 367 years.

Dutch St. Maarten and French St. Martin are blessed with over 37 beaches. Some are long stretches of white powdery sand, lined with beach bars & restaurants, others are small with coral sand, enclosed in tiny intimate bays. The Dutch part is more vibrant, has more commercial activities and possess large hotels and timeshare complexes. Nightlife and casinos make St. Maarten more attractive for entertainment seeking visitors.

The French part is more focused on low profile tourism, rental villas, condos, boutique hotels, and fine dining places in a very special French-Caribbean atmosphere. Regardless which part you prefer, you are never more than 30 minutes away from the attractions of either part.

The island of St. Maarten and St. Martin is an almost perfect place under the sun to get away from all. Relax at some of the finest beaches in the Caribbean. Eat in the best restaurants of the “Gourmet Capital” of the Caribbean. Enjoy the very international atmosphere.
