Family Vacation In St. Maarten
Stayed in August — This Villa was the perfect place for my family and I on our recent trip to St. Maarten. The accommodations are superb and definitely lived up to our expectations. We cooked almost every night enjoying great meals on the beautiful terrace off the main house. The view is beautiful. The staff is very friendly and ready to help with anything you need. The only drawback is the location. You must have a car if you stay here. Most of the places we wanted to visit were quite a drive, but when you are in such a beautiful place that was a low point on our priority list. I would recommend Baywood Villa for anyone.

Ten Days in Paradise!
Stayed in June — My husband and I along with another couple spent 10 days at the Baywood Villa during the last week of June. What can I say, it was heaven! The Villa is very spacious and comfortable and perfect for two or three couples looking to get away together while still being able to have some private time. There are two bedrooms in the main section of the villa while the master bedroom (which is huge!) is in a separate section connected via a bridge walkway over the pool. There is a nice gourmet kitchen with all the amenities, a large dining table inside as well two tables outside (one on the balcony and one on the patio by the small pool.) There was also a small charcoal grill available for use. The living area featured a large comfy couch, perfect for resting on after a long day of lying on the beach. There was also a television and stereo, the latter of which we had on all the time (check out Sun Fm from St. Barths, great mix of music from around the world!) Both bedrooms had king size beds and double sink bathrooms. The master bath also had a nice soaking tub. There are two pools, one large pool and one shallow kiddie pool which we spent most of our time in. It was very shallow so by 1 pm the water was pretty warm but perfect for floating on a raft in. The view of the ocean from the small pool cannot be beat! Other views include Oyster Pond and the back of the Westin, which is not all that attractive but definitely not something that would make me advise someone to not stay at the villa. At night lots of HUGE hermit crabs and other critters can be seen on the edge of the steps near the small pool. The driveway and entrance to the house is a little tricky, definitely recommend an experienced driver trying to navigate it.
The roads in St. Maarten can be a little crazy and the road to the Westin near the house is a mess! But overall the entire island is super easy to get around. There are no issues passing between the Dutch side and the French side, most of the time you don’t even realize you have crossed over. There was also a guard at the main entrance that greeted us each time we entered the neighborhood. There were some really great restaurants nearby in Oyster Pond (Canoa is amazing!) which is perfect if you don’t want to stray too far from the house at night. Dawn beach is a public beach but it is dominated by the Westin (don’t use their chairs) and a couple other small resorts. The best area to be is near Busby’s Beach Bar. The water is much calmer there then in front of the Westin. While we did find a bunch of other awesome beaches (Baie Lounge; Baie Prunes; Anse Marsel; Pinel Island), having the pools at the house was just as nice.
Our only issues or disappointments with the villa were that the windows did not open so there was no opportunity for a nice breeze to move through the house forcing us to leave the AC on most of the time. There are three doors in the master bedroom that open to the private balcony but it was suggested that we not leave them open at night or while we were away from the house. There was also very little hot water so showering was usually in lukewarm to cool water. Other than those small issues everything else was just wonderful!

Stayed in May — Beautiful Villa on the hill over looking the Westin resort. Great view of surf and Dawn Beach. Accommodations were AMAZING! Very clean! Bathrooms were very spacious. The road in, is a bit of a task. I would definitely suggest renting either a 4 x 4 SUV or something with plenty of horsepower. The hill in and out is awfully steep. Overall a 10/10 experience!!!

It was great!
Stayed in December — The house was as described with the exception of the pool. The pool and the landscaping was beautiful but the pool is really not for swimming. Nevertheless, the house, bedrooms. kitchen, balconies etc were terrific and I would go back.
Even better than the pictures!
Stayed in November — Thank you so much Sonja. I can’t tell you how much we enjoyed our stay. The house was absolutely perfect and we had such a great time. We really hated to see it end. We are already planning on another visit in the Spring so we will be checking back with you in the very near future.
We were so impressed – even better than the pictures and so well furnished with absolutely everything a person could ever want or need.
Thank you so much for all your help. We appreciate all the time you took helping us to find such a great place and answering all our questions. You are amazing and we now have a person we know we can count on always! Thank you again. Bridgett and Van

Stayed in July — We absolutely loved the villa! It was perfect for our group for the trip. The view was spectacular and we enjoyed dining on the balcony. It was very clean and the kitchen well stocked.

Beware of Roads in St. Maarten
Stayed in January — The Baywood Villa property was quite nice overall, with a superb view of the bay, except for two significant problems: (1) access to the house was literally treacherous (in fact many of the roads in St. Maarten were dangerous), and (2) the swimming pool at this house was very small and in the shade, so we never even went into the pool over 5 days. Imagine: 4 people over 5 days never putting a foot into the pool. We wound up driving to various beaches, which were quite nice. Advice: get a good SUV with large tires and a working emergency brake for parking on steep hills.

December in St. Maarten
Stayed in December — The house itself was beautiful. The location was quite a ways away from the Simpson Bay area. The hot tub did not work at all. The pool needed a new light. We didn’t have access to turn on any outdoor lighting around the pool. Unfortunately, one of the main roads on the island was closed for construction. This turned a 25 minute drive into a 1 1/2 to 2 hour drive. Maybe just bad timing on our part, but perhaps tourists should be informed of the closed road.

Stayed in November — We loved staying at the Villa but were unaware of the bumpy road down below. But we made it :). The hot tub was not working though and there was no DVD player but other than that it was a great place to relax.

Stayed in September — We loved this place, hopefully we can come back with friends and family and spend another weed there! I wouldn’t change anything, by the end of the week it felt like home! I highly recommend this villa for couples or even small families. It offers the perfect location as a base to experience St. Maarten from. I look forward to returning soon!
